Social Media

our students.

News and Media Relations recognizes the importance of social media to the public, especially our students, and staff in the Social Media area work to integrate it into daily communications to Penn State's various stakeholders, coordinating with colleagues throughout the University.

As part of leading social media efforts, the group developed the University's Social Media Guidelines and the Social Media Hub. The Hub serves as a resource for staff across the University who have responsibility for communication about their campuses or units using social media. Two social media summits are held annually for Penn State communications professionals that feature a mix of external social media professionals and internal communicators demonstrating best practices. The Social Media group also chairs the Penn State Social Media Council, again, sharing best practices and providing guidance.

Official Penn State social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter (five accounts), YouTube, Big Black Glasses Tumblr Blog, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, and Flickr. Several new social media accounts have been added featuring the Nittany Lion mascot (Facebook, Twitter).
