Laurie Verost joined Strategic Communications in January 2020 in a newly developed role as associate director for engagement. In this role, Laurie works closely with Strategic Communications leadership and lead communicators from across Penn State to help foster more effective and cohesive communications aligned with unit and overall leadership priorities. This includes an expanded professional development program, establishment of a Lead Communicator Council, and a process for expanded storytelling set forth through a University-wide study. Additionally, Laurie is responsible for helping engage alumni communications professionals who provide volunteer expertise, counsel, and support to strategic communications initiatives.

Prior to joining Strategic Communications full time, Laurie served as administrative fellow to the vice president for Strategic Communications and was selected as one of three fellows from across the overall University for the 2018–19 academic year. For the past sixteen years, Laurie worked in Student Affairs, specifically Career Services, where she helped build a high-quality, productive, and cohesive career development community spanning the University.

A two-time alumna of Penn State, Laurie holds a master’s degree in counselor education (student affairs and higher education focus) and a bachelor of science in secondary education (biological and general science concentrations).
