As director of research communications, Dave creates and produces news, features, and publications that tell the story of research and creative discovery at Penn State. His responsibilities include Research/Penn State magazine and the Research and Discovery Newswire, as well as online and cross-platform research features.

A science writer at the University for more than thirty years, Dave has covered research on environmental change from the Brazilian Amazon, the Mediterranean diet from Rome, and nuclear fallout in the shadow of Fukushima. He served as editor of Research/Penn State magazine from 2003 to 2014 and again beginning in 2020. Dave holds a master of fine arts degree in English and a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and political science, both from Penn State.
