Associate Vice President
Associate Vice President for Marketing Tracy Powell focuses on Penn State’s marketing, advertising, and branding efforts. She is a Penn State graduate and enjoys promoting her alma mater’s excellence, particularly in academics, research, global reach, and the student experience.
Before joining Strategic Communications at Penn State, Tracy was a leader in marketing and business development in the corporate world for more than 25 years, including serving as vice president of distribution marketing for A&E Networks and vice president of business development for K2 Marketing Group in Los Angeles. She also worked for broadcast companies that included Lifetime Entertainment in Los Angeles and Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta.
While at A&E Networks, Tracy collaborated with teams to develop award-winning advocacy campaigns like Stop Breast Cancer for Life and Take a Vet to School, campaigns that contributed to the public good as they reinforced the network’s brand positioning.
Tracy counts among her career achievements, which include numerous speaking engagements and professional organization affiliations, a TAMI Award for exceptional leadership from the Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing, a Lifetime Television Award for Excellence, and a Turner Network Sales Achievement Award.
A graduate of Harvard Business School’s cable executive management program and the prestigious Betsy Magness Leadership Institute, Tracy earned a bachelor of science degree in management from Penn State.
