Staff members from News and Media Relations are responsible for sharing information from the University to the public in times of institutional crisis. They work with the University administration and other officials to provide communications for internal and external audiences.

Managing communications in a crisis situation involves providing factual, consistent information, quelling rumors, keeping communications timely, and taking the lead in ensuring accuracy of information on various platforms, especially social media.

We strive to reinforce the trust that the public has in Penn State through accuracy, timeliness, transparency, and integrity in crisis situations.
