The Office of Strategic Communications carries out communications and marketing strategies to ensure that the University's image reflects our mission of teaching, research, and service as well as goals that include transparency; diversity and inclusion; and showcasing our academics, research, global reach and responsibility, and a high-quality student experience. We are public relations specialists, marketing experts, content creators, designers, science writers, media liaisons, photographers, social media strategists, and more. Lawrence leads communications and marketing strategic efforts for the University, overseeing several teams that promote Penn State as a national and international leader among premier universities.   Biography »

Barbara EttaroAs director of the Department of Campus and Community Affairs, Barb is responsible for managing campus/community relations. This department manages the University's involvement in projects and activities with local municipalities and community organizations. It also organizes major events such as commencement ceremonies.   Biography »
Jeffrey T. HermannAs director of administrative services for the Office of Strategic Communications, Jeff oversees internal information technology as well as addressing Penn State trademark and licensing issues. He also assists the vice president with staffing and budgeting issues, policy development, and various other projects.   Biography »
David A. PacchioliDave serves as managing editor and director of Research Communications. He has been writing and editing features about efforts in the sciences, arts, and humanities for more than 25 years, and has been the editor of Research Penn State magazine for the past decade.   Biography »
